Armed Forces Day

In the UK Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the last Saturday in June. Celebrations however begin on the Monday before when many famous landmarks & buildings around the country raise the Armed Forces Day Flag.

Showing our support for the British Armed Forces gives our troops a morale boost & lets them know that we appreciate all that they do for our country. As well as showing the regular service men & women that we appreciate what they do, it also a way to show support to Veterans, Cadets, Reservists & the families of anyone who has served.

A special day during this week is also set aside as 'Reserves Day' to celebrate the contribution they make whilst trying to balance civilian life & in a lot of cases their own full time jobs.

It is worth noting that this is not a charitable event, though in my own opinion it is as good a time as any to contribute to any of the armed forces charities.

A variety of events take place to mark this occasion both in person & virtually. These can vary and include parades, fun days, BBQs, Flypasts & much more.

Many local councils also arrange their own parades, will take the time to visit local Veteran & Armed Forces Organisations & may even host Civic Events as a way of thanking our Armed Forces.
